what we do
The Foundation's programs and grant-making efforts are geared towards addressing systemic barriers that hinder minority women and children from accessing their full potential in education and economic opportunities. By tackling societal inequities faced by families in marginalized communities, the Foundation strives to empower under-served residents in our community. It achieves this by providing college scholarships, supporting educational enrichment programs from elementary through high school, and promoting family strengthening initiatives. Working alongside our community partners, the Foundation aims to level the playing field for those who have been historically underserved.
What We've Achieved
Family Strengthening: Every year, the Foundation supports families in need by providing them with food, clothing, school supplies, and academic programs to improve the well-being of both children and adults, thereby strengthening the family unit.
Leadership Development: Our organization is committed to Leadership Development and supports the AKATeen Youth Leadership Development Program. The program offers leadership training, personal development, community service opportunities, and cultural experiences to help high school young ladies prepare for future leadership roles in their community.
Youth Initiatives: We support Youth Initiatives through collaborations with partners and community volunteers. Our efforts include introducing students to STEM careers, providing sponsorship for HBCU college tours and fairs, assisting with the college admission process, and hosting an annual Youth and Family Financial Literacy seminar to teach basic financial procedures.
Educational Attainment: We prioritize Educational Attainment and annually award college scholarships through both the Foundation and AKATeen Youth Leadership Development programs. To date, we have awarded over $500,000 in scholarships.
